There has been some issues with certain add ons trying to do "something else" when the tool opens your back pack. We had an issue with the tackle box add on trying to bait the hook when the back pack opened. Some people use this add on ok though so there may be a work around.

Also try and be sure that there are not a lot of programs running in the back ground on your PC. We had one customer that had a research program running in the background (unknowingly) and it caused it to act wierd as well. To sum it up if you are having issues with the clam opener or fishing in general try temporarily disabling your add ons and see if it resolves the issue. At least then we will have zeroed that out
